The history of automobiles is fascinating. Why are we talking about automobiles? Because they are part of our lives. What does it have to do with gift ideas? ActivityGift is the ‘world’ of hundreds of gift ideas and vintage cars are not missing from the list.
We live in a fast, crowded world, in which quick movement became essential for everybody. We choose the most convenient way to get to our desired destination. We’ve forgotten about the past times, when we used to walk relatively long distances and it didn’t seem like a chore. Because of this need for hurrying, we entered the era of automobiles. In this period, we decided that it’s impossible to leave our houses without the car keys. Streets have become insufficient for the existing cars. On every boulevard, you get to see a luxury car, a jewel on four wheels, but let’s think about their evolution for a moment. Let’s take a look in time, in the automobile’s years of glory. In 1770, the world experienced the first steam powered car, but it wasn’t successful because it could only reach 4 km/h and it could only run for about 15 minutes. The first successful car belonged to Karl Benz and Wilhelm Maybach, in 1886. They build an engine with internal combustion, which was using gas as fuel. This accomplishment led to the mass production of automobiles in 1900. A few years later, competition also started showing up in the automobile market. In the following years, an industry was developed with the purpose of building classic automobiles, manually. The creator of this concept was Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan, who, in 1909, built the first 3-wheeled prototype. Across the years, this little industry managed to mass produce automobiles.
The 4/4 model was launched in 1936 (this meant a 4-cylinders car). The chassis is, even in the present day, like a separate bracket, made out of steel, with a wooden-framed body made out of aluminum or steel. These vehicles had a 1098 cc Climax Coventry engine.
Classic, retro vehicles were going to be freshly taken out of production and released to the public; the same vehicles we now call ‘Vintage Cars’.
