Krav Maga

Fighting and, implicitly, self-defense was born at the same time with mankind. Across time, people endangered the others’ lives through brute force alone. There are countless reasons why people choose to practice self-defense, one of them being to control their fear and to become more confident in their own strength. A sport was created to help this people – a sport which allows one to relive himself of his uncontrolled fear. Self-defense sports are described through self-control, power and flexibility. The most efficient and easy to learn self-defense sport is Krav Maga.

Krav Maga means ‘contact fight’. It’s a quick and efficient personal self-defense system. By practicing this sport, we have the opportunity to learn how to use our bodies in order to win a confrontation. If we end up in the middle of a conflict, we can defend ourselves and take down the assailant. This sport was developed in Israel by Imi Lichtenfeld and it is grounded on techniques and principles taught in the Israeli army and then in training facilities. These techniques teach you how to avoid conflicts, but, if you don’t have a choice, you will be able to fight efficiently. The immediate purpose is neutralizing the danger through short, quick and efficient moves, targeting the assailant’s weak points. Applying the more or less aggressive techniques is done depending on the kind of the attack. Applying the correct techniques and the psychological preparation for the fight are essential. These can ensure your victory over a larger, faster and stronger person. During the Krav Maga training, you learn how another person, with the strength of his arms and legs, moving them very fast, can hit you critically or immobilize you through the simple pressing of your pressure points. Through training, you will learn how to counter these moves, either through annihilating the danger, or through moving away from the impact area, depending on what you consider the better move at that time.

Practicing Krav Maga you become more confident in your own strength, you can create and maintain an excellent physical condition, because the techniques you will learn are meant to stimulate any muscle and knuckle in your body, reducing the daily stress.
